Our optometrists in West Des Moines has been providing high-quality and compassionate eye care since 2006. We are happy to serve Waukee, Urbandale, Johnston & Surrounding Areas. We offer pediatric and adult comprehensive eye exams for eye health and vision correction, in addition to computer vision treatment. We also offer prescription sunglasses, glasses and contacts, including hard-to-fit contacts.
Eye & Vision Exams - Even if you do not wear glasses, you can still benefit from regular comprehensive eye exams. Eye and vision exams test your visual acuity and detect common eye diseases, like diabetic retinopathy, AMD and glaucoma. Diabetic retinopathy, AMD and problems with your retina like retinal detachment, can be diagnosed with the Optomap, which is a device that takes highly detailed images of the back of your eyes. This is especially important because many eye diseases do not produce any symptoms, like eye pain or discomfort; the only symptom is usually a slow, progressive loss of vision. Regular eye exams with our optometrist in West Des Moines can help find eye problems before you notice a change in your vision. If you work on a computer all day, ask us about computer vision correction during your annual exam.
Contact Lens Exams and Exams for Glasses - Our optometrists, Dr. Michael Lock and Dr. Jenessa Lock, offer glasses and contact lens exams. If you do wear corrective lenses, scheduling an exam once a year can help keep your prescription up-to-date and help avoid eye strain and headaches that are due to old prescriptions. Once you have your prescriptions for glasses or contacts, we can fill it in our optical shop. Our staff members can help you find a pair of frames that match your face, and we can order all types of contact lenses, even hard-to-fit contacts. In addition, we can also order prescription sunglasses.
Children’s Eye Exams - Children's eye exams can start as early as six months of age. If your child's eyes are developing normally, he or she will not need another exam until the age of three. Another eye exam is typically recommended before your child's starts kindergarten or first grade. After the age of six, your child will need an exam each year before the school year starts. These exams check for proper eye development, tracking and teaming, and eye coordination. As your child gets older, our optometrist in West Des Moines will check for depth perception, color blindness and visual acuity.
Our West Des Moines optometrists also perform eye surgery consultations and eye surgery aftercare services. Our consultations are designed to answer your questions about eye surgery and determine if surgery would be the right choice for permanent vision correction for you. After your surgery, our optometrists can examine the surgery sight and perform all your after-surgery care.
